Annual EEO Public File Report
June 1, 2013 – May 31, 2014
The purpose of this EEO Public File Report (“Report”) is to comply with Section 73.2080(c)(6)
of the FCC’s 2002 EEO Rule. This Report has been prepared on behalf of the Station Employment Unit that is comprised of the following stations: KRUI, KIDX, KNMB, KWMW and KTUM, and has been placed in the public inspection files of these stations and posted on the appropriate websites.
The information contained in this Report covers the time period beginning June 1, 2013 to and including May 31, 2014 (the “Applicable Period”).
The FCC’s 2002 EEO Rules require that this Report contain the following information:
- A list of all full-time vacancies filled by the Station(s) comprising the Station Employment Unit during the Applicable Period;
- For each such vacancy, the recruitment source(s) utilized to fill the vacancy (including, if applicable, organizations entitled to notification pursuant to Section 73.2080(c)(1)(ii) of the new EEO Rule, which should be separately identified), identified by name, address, contact person, and telephone number.
- The recruitment source that referred the hiree for each full-time vacancy during the Applicable Period;
- Data reflecting the total number of person interviewed for full-time vacancies during the Applicable Period and the total number of interviewees referred by each recruitment source utilized in connection with such vacancies; and
- A list and brief description of the initiatives undertaken pursuant to Section 73.2080(c)(2) of the FCC rules. Appendices 1, 2, and 3, which follow, have been designed, in the aggregate, to provide the required information. Please note that the numbers listed on Appendix 2 under the column entitled “Full-time Positions for Which This Source Was Utilized” refer to the number of the full-time jobs listed on Appendix 1.
For purposes of this Report, a vacancy was deemed “filled” not when the offer was extended but when the hiree accepted the job offer. A person was deemed “interviewed” whether he or she was interviewed in person, over the phone or by e-mail.

Recruitment Activities Undertaken by KRUI, KIDX, KNMB, KWMW, KTUM
Description of the Activities:
Training of Management Staff:
On September 7, 2013 General Manager attended the NM Broadcasters Association professional development seminar. The seminar was held in Ruidoso, NM at Ruidoso Convention Center and covered such topics as the creating marketing budgets based on average sales; combining radio and online ads for cross promotion. Subsequent sales meeting addressed these points and DVD materials were purchased for individual sales person education.
During annual reviews, employees are informed of anti-discriminatory behavior, confidentiality in the workplace and standards of conduct.
On-Air Announcements:
The Unit ran on-air announcements stating that the stations are equal opportunity employers and that any organization wishing to be placed on the mailing list to learn of future job vacancies can contact the stations, as well as how to do so. All the stations ran these on-air announcements on a regular basis during varied time slots throughout each station’s schedule for this reporting period.
Educational Outreach:
In November 2013, Club 59/Ruidoso Cub Scout Troop visited the Unit and met with Will Rooney, Assistant General Manager/Show Host. He gave a tour of the station and spoke about education and experience. The troop discussed the media and communications in the lives of 10 years olds. The troop was on air talking of their newly formed group.
March 2014, Youth Leadership Lincoln – Susan Kolb, On-Air Personality participated in a panel of marketing and business professionals to a group of 8th graders enrolled in a program to develop leaders. She provided the background and experience needed to get into broadcasting and the how the love and skill of music leads to various professions. The focus of the youth program was to show that leaders come in different shapes, dispositions and focuses.
March 2014, Career Fair in Alamogordo. Will Rooney, Assistant General Manager/Show Host attended the annual career fair at Oregan Elementary, speaking to students, K-5. He provided an on-air radio demonstration and allowed students to record their voices.
Job Fairs/Trade Shows
August 2013, Lea County Fair: MTD had a booth at the fair for the entire 4 days with a remote, sales people, give-aways and employment opportunities. Flyers on employment opportunities were available and recruitment efforts for a regional marketing rep were in place. Attendance for the Lea County Fair was greater than 80,000.
March 2014, Mountain Top Home & Garden Show: MTD had a booth at the show for the two days with a remote, sales people, give-aways and employment opportunities. Flyers on employment opportunities were available and recruitment efforts for a regional marketing rep were in place. Attendance for the show was approximately 1000 people.
